RSG Telecom to Acquire South Bay Fiber Network Assets and Operational Contract from American Dark Fiber

Entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets and operational contract of the South Bay Fiber Network (SBFN) from American Dark Fiber (ADF).

TORRANCE, CA, UNITED STATES, May 13, 2025 /EINPresswire.com/ -- In a landmark move to strengthen community broadband infrastructure, RSG Telecom, through its network services division Fabric Networks, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets and operational contract of the South Bay Fiber Network (SBFN) from American Dark Fiber (ADF). This acquisition underscores a shared commitment to expanding open-access broadband infrastructure that serves the public interest across the South Bay region of Los Angeles County.

The transaction, subject to formal approval by the Board of Directors the South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG), through the ARMSA (Amended and Restated Master Services Agreement) process, was approved at the April 24 Board Meeting. In 2025, SBCCOG forged a 15-city partnership to create the network’s fiber optic backbone ring to provide the critical infrastructure to enable high-speed, low-cost internet connectivity for South Bay cities to boldly step into the world of “smart city” applications. In continued partnership with the SBCCOG, the Fabric Networks will assume responsibility for the operation and ongoing development of the SBFN, ensuring uninterrupted service and long-term digital sustainability for over twenty-five cities and public agencies in the region.

The SBFN, a model for regional open-access fiber networks, was initially developed and operated by American Dark Fiber (“ADF”) under the leadership of David J. Daigle, CEO of ADF. The network provides high-speed fiber connectivity to cities, public safety agencies, and regional assets—facilitating smart city innovation, emergency communications, and reliable broadband infrastructure for public benefit.
