Moneymaker PSPC Tour to Award Nine $30K Platinum Passes

Chris Moneymaker

As part of PokerStars’ ongoing pledge to give away 320 Platinum Passes to the 2019 PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) worth $30,000 each, the latest announcement is a Chris Moneymaker tour that will award nine of them.

The man who helped spark the poker boom when he spun up an $86 satellite win into a $2.5 million first-place prize in the 2003 WSOP Main Event, now looks to pay it forward. On the 15th anniversary of that historic win, the recently-announced Poker Hall of Fame nominee will embark on the Moneymaker PSPC Tour to hand out $270,000 worth of value, kicking off Saturday, August 4 at Stones Gambling Hall in the Sacramento area.

"Come join me to play; you never know, this could lead to a life-changing moment like I had."

Though many have falsely believed Moneymaker’s satellite into the Main was $39 or another number, the actual amount has been revealed as $86 some time ago. Either way, the accountant from Tennessee got a really good return on his investment, and his PSPC tour aims to give others that same opportunity, according to Tuesday’s press release.

Players at eight land-based casinos across the U.S., as well as online at PokerStars New Jersey, will have the opportunity to play for an added Platinum Pass in an $86 buy-in tournament between August 4 and October 14. In addition to regular payouts determined by the casino, the winner of each of the nine Moneymaker Tour events will also be getting a Platinum Pass that includes a free seat into the $25,000 buy-in PSPC, along with travel and accommodations at the Atlantis Casino in Nassau, Bahamas.

“It’s been 15 years since the big win and it only feels like yesterday. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and I want to give someone else the opportunity to feel that #winningmoment,” Moneymaker said.

“I’ve played a lot of poker for years and during that time I’ve gotten to know lots of people at live events and meet-ups. Now U.S. fans will have the chance to win an amazing prize and have some fun along the way. Come join me to play; you never know, this could lead to a life-changing moment like I had. I am looking forward to playing with some familiar faces at every stop.”
