888poker XL Inferno Series Day 1: Brazil's 'Xandee1991' Wins Event #7

Sunday was a good day for tournament players. It marked the start of the latest edition of the 2017 XL Inferno Series on the second largest online poker room, 888poker. On the first day of the series, 16 tournaments started. Here are the results.

XL Inferno #1 - $30,000 Sunday Lightning

The 2017 XL Inferno Series started with the XL Inferno #1 - $30,000 Sunday Lightning where 470 players competed for the prize pool of $71,800. In the end, Mexican player "SteveyBG" defeated all of his opponents to secure himself the victory and the first prize of $13,893.

XL Inferno #2 - $45,000 Sunday Breeze

Another five-figure score was noted by Argentina's "zumo444", the winner of the XL Inferno #2 - $45,000 Sunday Breeze. He took the first prize of $10,554 after beating "ego_death" in the deciding heads-up.

XL Inferno #3 - $30,000 Sunday Deepstack Swordfish

XL Inferno #4 - $150,000 Mega Deep

In the XL Inferno #4 - $150,000 Mega Deep, 902 players all bought in for $215 to create a prize pool of $180,400. The winner could win $32,472. After more than 14 hours of play, United Kingdom's "Binkasaurus" won the tournament. "23NoraB" finished in second place and had to settle for $23,452.

XL Inferno #5 - $40,000 Mini Mega Deep

XL Inferno #7 - $300,000 Opening Event

After more than 13 hours of play, Event #7 - $160 XL Inferno Opening Event finally crowned a winner. "Xandee1991" from Brazil claimed the victory and the first prize of $53,014 after beating "kevlar1991" in the deciding heads-up.

The event, with a buy-in of $160, saw 1,447 players register and those players made 632 rebuys to get a total amount of 2,079 players. They created a total prize pool of $311,850 with 162 places paid. It took a while to get to the money but in the end, "DrMiKee" was the last player finishing empty-handed.

After making the money, it took a long time before the tournament got down to the last nine. After 11 hours, the remaining nine players made the final table and went on to play for a $53,014 first prize. For "janwest030" (ninth - $3,367), "mario73m" (eight - $6,081) and "wiissspppaa" (seventh - $9,199) it wasn't a big success on the final table, because they left quite early.

Not much later, Phil "PRoyal888“ Mighall finished in sixth place for $12,318 after losing all his chips with king-nine. He was followed to the rail by "lasochobi" (fifth - $15,436) and "bluecheek" (fourth - $21,205). From that moment on, "Xandee1991" dominated the tournament.

He took a commanding chip lead against his two opponents and won almost every pot he played. "kevlar1991" busted "MommyTosier" to get heads-up with the Brazilian. "kevlar1991" had to fight against the big-time chip leader, and the first time the money went in, the tournament ended. "Xandee1991" had 5♣5♦ against A♥K♣ and flopped a set of fives on a 5♥2♦8♣ flop. The turn 9♣ sealed the deal and the 4♠ on the river couldn't change anything.

"kevlar1991" had to settle for second place, while "Xandee1991" celebrated his victory.

XL Inferno #8 - $50,000 Mini Opening Event

XL Inferno #9 - $45,000 Sunday Monsoon

May 7 was a good day for Romanian "thompson199". He won the ninth event of the tournament series for $9,135.

XL Inferno #10 - $200,000 Whale

At 8 p.m. GMT, players with a bigger bankroll could enjoy the XL Inferno #10 - $200,000 Whale. In total, 334 paid the buy-in of $600 to create a prize pool of $200,000. Because there weren't enough entries, there was a small overlay in this tournament.

Anton "anteen" Bertilsson became one of the bigger winners of the day after winning this event for $38,700. In the deciding heads-up, he defeated Czech Republic's "J0hnmccl3an".

XL Inferno #11 - $100,000 Sunday Challenge

Another big winner on the first day of the XL Inferno Series was Romania's "omgsickklife", who won the XL Inferno #11 - $100,000 Sunday Challenge for $18,690.

XL Inferno #12 - $30,000 Sunday Tornado

XL Inferno #13 - $50,000 Turbo Mega Deep

"T54_IS_A_FAG" from Canada was the last player to win a five-figure score. The Canadian won the XL Inferno #13 - $50,000 Turbo Mega Deep and received a total prize of $10,225.

XL Inferno #14 - $20,000 Mini Turbo Mega Deep

XL Inferno #15 - $30,000 Turbo Opening Event

XL Inferno #16 - $10,000 Super Turbo Opening Event
