Strengthening high pressure from the Canadian Shield brings relief from the heat and humidity, plus a break from rain and storms in Upper Michigan. The relieving pattern ensues through early Wednesday in Upper Michigan -- before another round of rain and a few rumbles. Soaking rain potential and localized flash flood risks Thursday -- max rainfall rates can approach an inch per hour. Projections so far show lower probability of heavy rain up the Keweenaw Peninsula.
