Rapper GloRilla took home a BET award on Monday night in the gospel category and former Auburn University and University of Alabama quarterbacks shared some of the limelight.

Wearing a hat, neck scarf and a sleeveless floral vest and matching above the ankle pants, former Auburn University quarterback Cam Newton announced Monday night on the BET Awards that he’ll be co-hosting a sports show on BET with Ashley Nicole Moss called 106 & Sports.

Former University of Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles was named sportsman of the year.

GloRilla, Kirk Franklin, and Maverick City Music won the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award for their collaboration “Rain Down on Me.”

GloRilla is the stage name for Memphis native Gloria Hallelujah Woods, 25, who reached the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2022 with her single, “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).”

She was nominated for best rap performance at the Grammy Awards in 2023.

She won the best new hip-hop artist award at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards and in the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Black Entertainment Television was founded in 1980.
