ASHEBORO POLICE SAY THEY HAVE ARRESTED THREE PEOPLE FOR THE DEATH OF NAVY VETERAN DAVID DAVIS LAST YEAR. 30 FOUR YEAR-OLD VICTOR AUSTIN JUNIOR AND 34 YEAR-OLD AMELIO ALSTON FACED SEVERAL CHARGES, INCLUDING FIRST DEGREE MURDER. THEY ARE BEING HELD IN THE RANDOLPH COUNTY JAIL. 39 YEAR-OLD TYREE ROWAN IS CHARGED WITH ROBBERY WITH A DANGEROUS WEAPON. HE IS BEING HELD IN THE CHATHAM COUNTY JAIL, WITH ADDITIONAL CHARGES PENDING. Three men have been arrested in connection to the death of David Matthew Davis, an employee of 64 Skillz gaming center, who was shot and killed during an armed robbery in November. On May 12, 2025, Asheboro Police Department detectives arrested 34-year-old Victor Earl Austin Jr., 34-year-old Emilio Francisco Alston, and 39-year-old Tiree Sintell Rone. Austin Jr. and Alston are each charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy, and two counts of felony breaking and entering. Rone is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. Austin Jr. and Alston are being held in the Randolph County Jail under no bond. Rone is currently in the Chatham County Jail on other pending charges.The Asheboro Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, Pittsboro Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and Greensboro Police Department Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT).Davis was also a Navy veteran.
