Luxembourg international Gerson Rodrigues faces a confirmed criminal record after appeals judges maintained his suspended domestic violence sentence.
The Luxembourg Court of Appeals has confirmed a first-instance verdict against national team footballer Gerson Rodrigues, maintaining an 18-month suspended prison sentence for domestic violence and bodily injury.
A judiciary spokesperson confirmed to RTL that the ruling was substantially unchanged from the first instance decision.
The case stems from Rodrigues' March 2024 conviction on three counts of assault and battery, which originally resulted in both the suspended sentence and financial compensation for a civil party. While the appeals court kept the criminal penalties fully intact, including the 18-month suspended term, it did modify some civil aspects of the case by awarding increased compensation to one affected party.
