FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A warrant has been issued for a 24-year-old Fort Wayne man accused of molesting two girls less than 10 years old when he was a teen.

Luis Mondragon-Alcantara is charged with 10 counts of child molestation and faces a possible sentence of up to 148 years if convicted after the two children spoke to a family case manager with the Indiana Department of Child Services in March 2022 about the alleged sexual assaults.

Both girls said they were babysat in Mondragon-Alcantara’s when they were between 5 and 7 years old, according to a probable cause affidavit written by Fort Wayne Police Detective Sgt. Todd Battershell. They said the alleged assaults happened several times.

One of the girls said Mondragon-Alcantara threatened to hurt her mother if she ever said anything about the abuse.

Mondragon-Alcantara allegedly admitted to the allegations during an interview with police in May 2022, court records show. The defendant said “he didn’t know why he did it but he did.”

He also allegedly admitted to assaulting the girls on multiple occasions.

A brother of one of the victims told police he remembered Mondragon-Alcantara making the children being babysat at the house play hide and seek, court records show. The boy said Mondragon-Alcantara would tell the children they had to hide downstairs but would then take the two victims upstairs.

The boy said they were told the younger children couldn’t go upstairs because the “boogeyman” was up there.

As of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Mondragon-Alcantara had not been booked into the Allen County Jail.
