Storm chances are on the rise Friday night as severe storms are expected to come into Oklahoma this weekend.
KOCO 5 Meteorologist Jonathan Conder says there's a low chance of damaging winds Friday night, but those storms will snowball into a bigger risk Saturday morning across southeastern Oklahoma with new storms Saturday afternoon. Jonathan says the damaging winds Friday could be 60-70 mph, and there's a risk for small hail and a low tornado threat.
Jonathan says if the storms linger, they will suppress the storm chance and risk for Saturday afternoon. If they move out quickly, the risk could be significant for some.
The storm risk for Saturday is the most significant in southern Oklahoma, being enhanced near Ardmore and in the southeastern part of the state. Other areas, including the OKC metro, have a marginal and slight risk.
Jonathan says the tornado risk is very low in most areas, but the tornado index increases to a 2 out of 10 in southern Oklahoma.
