A planning application has been made to convert a former church in Biggar into a luxurious home.

South Lanarkshire Council received the application on May 31 and validated it on June 13.

The applicant is proposing to change the former Lowther Church on Main Street in Leadhills into a home.

The plans would see windows of the church being replaced, solar panels being added, the development of a parking and turning area as well as an outbuilding and the installation of a covered outdoor swimming pool.

The church was used as offices after it was no longer used as a church; it is currently unused now and has been vacant for years.

Neighbourhood consultation began on June 23 and will end on June 14 and standard consultation began on June 23 and will end on July 7.

The deadline for determining the application is August 12.
