A number of weather warnings are in place across the UK tomorrow as a result of Storm Bella.

Although the North West will avoid the bulk of the strongest weather, with amber warnings in place across the South and South West, the Met Office still has warnings in place for our region.

A yellow weather warning for wind is in place for Lancashire and Cumbria from 3pm tomorrow (December 26) until midday on Sunday (December 27). A warning for rain is in place from 6pm until 9am on over the same period.

These warnings mean that there is a chance businesses and homes will be flooded, power cuts could occur and deep water and strong winds could pose a danger-to-life, according to the Met Office.

The environment agency has issued 81 flood warnings across the country, meaning immediate action is required, but none of these are in place for Lancashire and Cumbria.

In other parts of the UK, it is expected that winds will reach up to 70mph in exposed coastal locations.

Deputy Chief Meteorologist Tony Wardle, said: “Conditions will turn very unsettled after Christmas day, with a large area of low pressure sweeping across the UK from Boxing Day. Very strong winds will impact much of England and Wales, with particularly strong gusts on south west facing coasts.

“Heavy rain will also move in from the north, with heavy downpours through the afternoon in Scotland and Northern Ireland moving south across England and Wales overnight. This will be a notable change from the calmer conditions over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so take extra care and stay up to date with the latest forecast.”
