A Lancashire schoolgirl has been reunited with her favourite teddy, who she left on holiday three years ago.

Eight-year-old, Florence Kershaw, received a hugely surprising early Christmas present this month as one of her best friends, Bunny Bunny, returned to her after a long trip in the Bahamas.

Florence could not believe her eyes when her favourite toy, ‘Bunny Bunny’ was delivered by none other than Father Christmas, after she mistakenly left her behind during a family holiday at the Comfort Suites Hotel in Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Her mother, Angela Kershaw, 42, of Great Eccleston, told LancsLive about Bunny's almost 7000km journey, which involved a stop in Canada with Florence's auntie.

“We initially forgot to ring the hotel where we were staying back up to get the teddy," she said.

“But three weeks ago, Florence said that she really missed her, so we rang the hotel back just on the off-chance - and to our surprise, Bunny Bunny was still there!

“The hotel told us that had been using the teddy as a sort of mascot on the reception desk.

“The staff were great. They took some pictures for us of his return journey, of Bunny Bunny saying goodbye.”

The teddy’s 6,800km return back to her rightful owner has been well-documented.

From the staff taking pictures of her leaving the island, to the final act when she arrived in Great Eccleston, which was filmed on camera.

Ms Kershaw continued: “It’s such a strange story, we just can’t believe it. I just think it’s amazing that the hotel had kept it all this time.”

Bunny Bunny made a stop in Canada with Angela's sister, before flying thousands of miles across the Atlantic Ocean.

Then the local Santa, 80-year-old model Harry Mountain, made the special delivery back to a delighted Florence, who could not contain her excitement upon seeing the special friend once again.

“She was absolutely amazed; she could not believe it. After all these years, Bunny Bunny was back with her. She was over the moon."
