Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre is gearing up for a royal celebration with Sleeping Beauty set to open soon.

This Christmas, Princess Belle will celebrate her 18th birthday, and everyone in the kingdom is invited.

And what would a birthday celebration be without a cake? But with more than one would-be baker among King Hugo’s most trusted subjects there’s hot competition for job of creating the confection, and tensions between the fairies and courtiers are rising like a victoria sponge!

Determined to take home the title of star baker in King Hugo’s birthday bake-off, Nanny McWheeze is enlisting all the help that she can get, and is calling on the men of Coventry to help her cook up something extra special.

Think you know a man who’d like a slice of the on-stage action? The Belgrade Theatre needs you to nominate male friends, relatives or colleagues who won’t be afraid to get stuck in on stage.

Wondering whether their baking skills are up to scratch? Don’t worry, whether they’re a closet Masterchef or more Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook, Nanny McWheeze will make the whole thing seem like a piece of cake – after all, what could possibly go wrong…?

To nominate a victim, simply email their name along with the time and date of the performance they will be attending to Steve Cressy at scressy@belgrade.co.uk.

The person nominated must be seated downstairs in the stalls, so if possible, please provide the seat number or row where they’ll be situated. Please include “Panto Nomination” in the subject line of your email.

You can also submit your nomination by post. Title your letter ‘Panto Nomination’ and mark it for the attention of Steve Cressy, Company Stage Manager – then either send it to The Belgrade Theatre, Belgrade Square, Coventry CV1 1GS, or hand it in at box office.

Don’t forget to keep it all a secret from your nominee – the element of surprise makes this the perfect opportunity to play a joke on a boss, wind-up a mate, or get your own back on your dad, uncle or brother!

Don’t get caught napping when the nation’s dreamiest panto comes to the Belgrade. Featuring a dragon, a dame and a dozing princess, this festive family show will be full of all the spectacular sets, colourful costumes and hilarious gags that make a trip to the pantomime a magical occasion for all the family. Set your alarm now – it would be a nightmare to miss it!

Sleeping Beauty shows at the Belgrade Theatre from Wednesday 21 November until Saturday 5 January.
