Perfect pass: The must download football games on Android and iOS
For mobile gamers there are plenty of football games to choose from and many of them can be played for free
The football season is in full swing. The Premier League in England, La Liga in Spain and Serie A in Italy, among others, are halfway through while the group stage of the UEFA Champions League is in its last leg. Football fans looking to replicate some football action of their own can turn to their smartphone as there are plenty of interesting options for the smaller screen this time. Here are some of the new and recently updated football games you can install right away.
PES 2018
Free (In-app purchases)
Android, iOS
Successor to the PES 2017, the new game is not much of visual overhaul, but the players now look more like their real-life counterparts. Player rosters have been updated in line with the latest transfers for the Season 2017-18. The good news for those who have played the earlier version can continue with the same team. It still remains an online only game that takes up over 1.5GB of space including commentary and game files. The game provides users the option to add legendary players into their team. England’s David Beckham is the first legend in the game. Konami has expanded the online mode but most of the team names are still made up due to licensing issues.
Dream League Soccer 2018
Free (In app purchases )
Android, iOS
First Touch’s Dream league Soccer is one of the few gaming series on mobile devices which come close to EA Sports’ FIFA and Konami’s PES series. Its latest edition, called Dram League Soccer 2018, comes with improved graphics, deeper player customisation options and more competitions to test your skills including the new online mode where you can challenge other players. The gameplay and on screen controls haven’t changed at all, though. If you have played the previous game, you won’t need time to get used to it. Its biggest advantage is that it works offline and occupies just 400MB of space after installation.
FIFA Soccer
Free (In app purchases )
Android, iOS
EA Sports didn’t bring a new mobile game in the FIFA series this time. Instead, they have updated the FIFA Mobile game from last year, renamed it Fifa Soccer and given it a complete facelift, so much so that it almost looks like a new game. All your last year’s activities and saves have been reset too. So you start from scratch but with more gold coins in your inventory and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo in the team. The gameplay and in-game visuals haven’t changed at all. Most players don’t look realistic. The biggest letdown is the absence of commentary during matches. The game takes up just 150MB after installation but requires active internet connection all the time.
Football Manager Mobile 2018
Rs 700 (In app purchases)
Android, iOS
If you are more into football management and like to be involved with the managerial side of things you can go for Sega’s latest Football Manager Mobile 2018. The game offers deeper insight on player strengths and weaknesses which may come in handy in assigning training or during transfers. The game offers a new user interface, the option to play as female manager, select reputation level, more in-game tactics and leagues from over 17 counties, including USA and South Korea. It works offline, is light on the resources and takes up just 40MB post installation
