Blue Apron is slashing 6 percent of its workforce

Blue Apron announced late Wednesday that it was laying off 6 percent of its workforce.

The meal-kit delivery company’s “realignment” was revealed in an company-wide email from CEO Matt Salzberg.

The layoffs come just four months after the company’s disappointing IPO.

“We identified the need to reduce some roles, open others, and streamline decision making for greater accountability,” Salzburg wrote.

The New York-based startup, which mails fresh ingredients along with instructions on how to prepare them, went public in late June and has seen its shares tumble nearly 50 percent since.

According to the company’s SEC filing, the company expects to pay out $3.5 million in severance payments.

Blue Apron shares fell 3 cents to $5.27 in after-hours trades.
